The undefinedUniversitätsklinikum Hamburg-Eppendorf (UKE) is the largest amongst Hamburg's hospitals with around 1600 hospital beds. Each year the medical center treats 92 000 in-patients and 291 000 out-patients – among them 122 000 emergency patients. He is Coordinating Investigator of the European multicenter randomized controlled clinical trial of MRI-based thrombolysis in stroke patients with unknown time of symptom onset (undefinedWAKE-UP). The clinical stroke research team lead by G. Thomalla has a long-standing tradition in international cooperations in acute stroke research and clinical trials including the participation in European projects funded by FP6 and FP7. There is a close collaboration with undefinedparticipant 14 (CTC North) in coordination and conduct of clinical trials.
